Pinned toot

Hello! I am a for systems and interested in and (in an organizational/political sense). With a sprinkle of and thrown in.

I am an gamer and run one based game in meatspace and one .

My actual system is base OSRIC with some Adventures Dark and Deep thrown in. Rounding out with a sprinkle of Dragonsfoot Footprints articles and my own houserules wiki.

I have has this instance account set as a for a bit now and wonder if it is preventing people from following me in .

I am wondering if people see the lock icon in my profile and think (oh well they don't want to be followed, forget that....)

Anyone have opinions/input?

I had to do my first follow trim since joining up on this instance. I think this is occasionally a good thing to do. Some people you want to have "slow chats" with start getting lost in the flow. It is good to see those people back in my home feed instead of scrolling a ton...

Wondering if this is changing the way I visualize using

Reclaiming RSS

“Before Twitter, before algorithmic timelines filtered our reality for us, before surveillance capitalism, there was RSS: Really Simple Syndication … As we move away from the centralised web to the peer web, it’s time to rediscover, re-embrace, and reclaim RSS.”

Giving this a boost because this talk was really important and needed for this month.

Talk to each other like human beings. Love each other the same way...

In support of month, I wanted to post an awesome talk at my from Dr. Kand McQueen (kandmcqueen.com/) that was " 101 Workshop". It was a great talk and the first thing I did was make sure it was posted as publicly as my university would make it (still working on youtube, but Dr. McQueen has some other talks there).

You can now watch my #LibrePlanet keynote (edited w/ slides) about how firms and markets have coopted the free culture and free software movement's most powerful weapon (mass collaboration) and where that leaves us. mako.cc/copyrighteous/librepla

Doing stupid things that hurt other people while drunk is bad. Intoxication is not a defense.

My guess is that if you become the top honcho of a big company, and if you're a thinking person and not just a zombie going through the motions, then there will always be some amount of guilt about having as much wealth as you do, compared to the employees who created it for you.

In the US the income differential between the top and the average is something like 300:1

You might try to justify to yourself that you're worth 300 times more than the people you employ. That you're "self-made", but as you advance in years it will become more apparent that this is just an empty and unrealistic self-justification. If you really were "self-made" then why did you have so many others working "with" you?

That capitalism is a bad system is obvious. The evidence is everywhere and easy to see. If there is a "moral obligation" of capitalists to share then they're mostly choosing to remain immoral. Consider how much cash is stashed in offshore tax havens, for example.

Wiped firmware on my #chromebook and installed #xubuntu. Had to remove a read only screw from the motherboard. Thanks MrChromebox.tech. Now I have a real laptop.

Achievement unlocked!

@kensanata I have three questions on your migration to from . What made you pick it over the other options, including (which I know is different)?

Are you going to put in an easy place where people can access the repos to clone publicly? I found your method of patching pretty easily (email you diffs) but noted the public access was in a comment (somewhere).

Are you using ? I notices cgit didn't have a package for it upstream.

Whoa! I really felt like I did a time warp (it IS just a jump to the left!!).

I thought I would take a mini break of a day cos I was wondering if the of was killing my phone battery. Next thing I know is three days passed.

FramaGit is a free Git hosting alternative that doesn't suck.

framagit.org

@Framasoft are guys with good politics, and even though theirs is still a centralised server, and a self-hosted solution would be better (as long as you don't use MAGAFA servers or IP addresses) this is probably a second best option for small projects who don't know how to, or can't afford to handle their own Git web interface.

Due to logistical issues with my group, we didn't get to play our game today. However, I am firmly of the feeling that their next adventure should be something in memory of Gus L of

dungeonofsigns.blogspot.com/

...and if you haven't looked at their stuff, you really should. It will be staying up in "archive mode".

I deleted my github account. It didn't have much on it, but I'm cranky about companies consolidating and gobbling each other up into one giant frankenmegacorp.

I want the internet to be a network of villages with weird yurts and converted school buses, not a few highrises each with a zillion sterile apartments. It's a silly metaphor, but you know what I mean.
