I kinda wish #Peertube would let you subscribe to channels individually, rather than subscribe from the admin panel to individual instances.

Just seems like a more user-centric UX approach? I don't necessarily want everything that's on an instance; I'd prefer to just support my friends on a one-off basis.

#Ideas: a hosted #ActivityPub API service for sites that use static site generators. Like with #RSS, a link to the relevant endpoints for that webpage would be included in meta tags. Comments on posts, for instance, would be included in the static HTML upon regeneration of the site, which could be triggered from a new comment (pending moderation approval?).

If you’re an iOS Developer who knows you should be doing more unit testing check out this book by my friend Josh. It’s in beta until the end of this week which means you can get 20% off.

Just paid for my VPN with Zcash over Tor using a disposable email address. Hopefully someday we can live in a cyberspace where all transactions have that kind of privacy.

#DeleteGoogle is tougher than #DeleteFacebook.

It is the most powerful organization in the world, with tracking data on *at least* 4 billion people.

Start with basics:

Use @Firefox instead of #Chrome Enable #PrivacyBadger extension Enable #UblockOrigin

Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.

I think it’s time to admit to myself that the iPhone 8 Plus is too big for me when I start considering a PopSocket. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar less-horrendous contraptions or cases?

blog: "How we backup"

I woke up to the terrible news that our good friends on another instance had lost their database during a software upgrade. Godspeed and good luck in bringing it back online. We’re pulling for you! The Free Radical site backs itself up hourly to a private S3 bucket, and keeps a month’s worth [...]
