I've been watching Black Mirror, it successfully earned a seat in my heart.
A reminder that Mastodon isn’t a magical anti-Facebook. Use only instances you trust. Use only client software you trust. Consider that if either of those are compromised, anyone could be reading your “private” messages.
I don’t think that’s happening and I haven’t heard of it, but a little caution is always prudent.
(To be explicit: I have never accessed any of my users’ private data. At most, I’ve looked at profiles in the admin web UI when following up on abuse reports.)

I just realized that intellectual property is probably a big contributor to environmental degradation.
If environmentally friendly technology was open-source, developing countries would have access to it and it would make its use cheaper even in developed countries.
