Susan Kare, graphic designer who created many familiar icons & fonts for Apple, NeXT, Microsoft, and IBM.
Her creations include most of the iconography and fonts which shipped with the original Macintosh, and many icons which persisted in Windows from version 3 until XP.

@scattergather On that photography she looks a lot more like Susan Doesnotkare, really.
@lertsenem @scattergather What? That picture is super cool, pretty much the archetype for a 1980s hacker.
@galaxis @scattergather Far from me the idea of disagreeing! :]
@scattergather i like her A E S T H E T I C
@scattergather One of my favorite personal possessions is a deck of playing cards with the designs from Windows 3.1 Solitaire, plus jokers she expressly designed for the set: https://www.areaware.com/products/solitaire-cards?variant=14622412804 https://wandering.shop/media/3dORMEy27nOACExm3_s

The late 80s early 90s were a different time.
A time where we briefly forgot how to use chairs.
I never evolved on this point since I'm born it seems
@Irick @scattergather I thought this was just a teenager/early 20s thing, but if it was a fad from that specific era, it's long overdue for a comeback.
@scattergather @Irick Seriously, at some point in my life, hanging upside down on a sofa stopped being a thing that I did, and lately I've been missing it.
@scattergather I often think Susan Kare and other early Macintosh UI designers get lost in the shadow of the near deified Steve Jobs.
@scattergather This is the proper way to sit in a chair.
@branko @scattergather It needs to be brought back. I don't care that I'm 46 and would pull all the muscles.
@scattergather Her importance to the Macintosh cannot be overstated, but I keep getting distracted by how 🔥 her sneakers are :P
