Never. Fully. Trust. Anybody.
is santa a symbol of rampant commercialism?
or a symbol of pagan resistance to christian holidays?
or a symbol of christian appropriation?
or a symbol of kropotkin-like gift economy?
or a symbol of an elite vanguard which holds the sole means of supernatural gift creation?
or a symbol of anarcho-capitalism, breaking the law to privately invade homes and give presents?
or a symbol of centrism in its white washing and de-politicizing?
or a symbol of shadow governments in his silence?
HO HO HO!
@kaniini What is the point of all this technology if we just absorb all efficiency improvements with more drudgery? What are we working for, if not an improved standard of living and less work for literally everyone?
Twitter was not bad because "hashtags this" or "trends that". Twitter was bad because:
1. Centralized.
2. They forced you to ID yourself with a phone number.
3. They hand your data to third party companies.
4. Most governments were using it to ID people saying bad things about them.
5. Ads and corporative campaigns.

But the big tech companies are trying to make running sites that accept user submissions onerously expensive. Essentially impossible.
If the EU copyright thing passes, I wouldn't really be able to afford to operate in the EU. (and that's without the burden of international copyright to think about.)
Okay, Pizza has been consumed.
So a lot of the threats to the internet come in the form of real shitty laws that the content industry or the telcom industry (and, in case you weren't aware, these are often the Same Companies) really want to see passed.
Content companies, that is to say, Disney and the rest, are evil at their heart.
I've covered the ways why before:

Oh good, the "fascists" and "libtards" are all whipped up and putting words in each other's mouths, again.
Help, linguistodon: A great-uncle of mine used to say (to my best phonetic representation, mostly of Mom's later interpretation) "dah DAH-dee-yah bare vah DEE!" when he was annoyed. We're not sure of the language... coulda been [Pennsylvania] German, Flemish or, knowing that great-uncle (he was A Character), something completely made-up that he could safely say in front of the kids.
Anybody have any guesses?

Just to chip in here and add: this frames the "victory condition" nicely. The goal of crypto is to make it too costly for State Actors to pick targets without careful consideration. If attacking you with certainty costs them 0.01c, they'll hit everyone. If it's 1c, they'll automate it. If it's 100, a human analyst will decide. 10,000, and it's a committee.
No luck last time, so asking again: Anyone who knows of an instance with focus on food? :) @Gargron , maybe you know? :)
When your community #Minecraft auto-sorted inventory is so huge you have to have a little rail to carry you along the stacks:
Chrome's private browsing is broken
This defeats the purpose of Incognito. If any website is able to tell you're browsing in private mode, then the browser is leaking data that shows it's not private
