So, a quick question for the #privacy and browser people. How do you feel about #Vivaldi #VivaldiBrowser as an alternative to #Firefox?
With the fumbling of Mozilla data collection announcements I'm on the hunt for a better browser. I'm also a big fan of the fact that Mozilla have their own rendering engine and I'd love to keep supporting an Open Source Web solution, but... Without the Mozilla-ness of it all.
@swamptin Vivaldi browser is Google Chrome.
Will replace Mozilla Firefox (or reasonable fork) with Servo when it would become usable.

That's very disappointing to hear. I had hoped it wasn't the chromium engine underneath, but hadn't fully looked into it. I understand browser engines are terrifyingly complex, I just wish there were more.
@swamptin I a not considering any Google-Blink based browsers.
Simple as that.

A sensible hardline to have honestly. I'm trying to avoid them but it just leaves Mozilla, and they're doing stuff in general that I don't agree with. Or at least that's what the noise around recent announcements would imply.
@swamptin I found this post by @ErictheCerise which you may be interested in referring to a review by security professional Bruce Schneier. https://social.vivaldi.net/@ErictheCerise@kolektiva.social/114149810529696075
